Asha Bhosle will receive the Maharashtra Bhushan Award.
Veteran playback vocalist Asha Bhosle has been decided for the esteemed Maharashtra Bhushan Award.
The choice to give the 87-year-old with the state's most elevated honor was taken at a gathering of the honor choice board of trustees on Thursday directed by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
Offering her thanks for the honor, Asha Bhosle took to Twitter to post: "My sincere appreciation to individuals of Maharashtra for giving upon me the most significant level of honor the state can grant to an individual - the Maharashtra Bhushan Award. Endlessly thankful."
Set up in the year 1996, the main beneficiary of the honor was Purushottam Laxman Deshpande.
Bhosle is the second individual from the Mangeshkar family to get the Maharashtra Bhushan Award. Her sister Lata Mangeshkar has given the honor in 1997.
Born on September 8, 1933, in the Sangli region, Bhosle has been met twice with National Awards. She has won 7 Filmfare Awards for her singing in Hindi movies.
In the year 2000, Bhosle was regarded with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, viewed as the most elevated in the entertainment world. She was likewise deliberated with the Padma Vibhushan Award in the year 2008.
